Hotels registered 1.3 million stays overall in September, down 22 percent from last year, while stays by foreign tourists fell 52% to 227,000 of the total, the Tourism Ministry said Monday.
Hotels registered 1.3 million stays overall in September, down 22 percent from last year, while stays by foreign tourists fell 52% to 227,000 of the total, the Tourism Ministry said Monday. In the first nine months of the year, however, overall hotel stays grew 3% over the same period last year to 14.8 million stays. Tourists from abroad accounted for 5.4 million of the stays, reflecting a 6% rise over the same period last year. Stays by Israelis rose 1% to 9.4 million. On average, 60% of hotel rooms were occupied over the nine-month period, up from 58% last year. Tel Aviv led occupancy with an average of 67%, while 55% of Jerusalem hotel rooms were in use.
