MDA had its hands as full as the Israel Fire Service did trying to prevent bonfires from destroying their surroundings.
By 6 p.m. Thursday, hundreds of Magen David Adom medics, paramedics, and doctors had treated more than 170 adults and children injured at the center of Lab Ba’omer festivities on Mount Meron, in the Upper Galilee, and an additional 10 people in other parts of the country. Injuries included burns, other physical trauma, overconsumption of alcohol or injuries resulting from various types of violence.

MDA had its hands full treating victims, while the Fire and Rescue Service worked to prevent bonfires from destroying their surroundings.

Medical conditions ranged from heat prostration and being overcome by smoke to burns and loss of consciousness, said MDA. The medical staff also had to take 15 people who could not be treated in two temporary clinics on the spot to Safed’s Ziv Medical Center in mobile intensive care units and ambulances, but there were no serious injuries.
