Recovered Kroyter makes a comeback.
Date of Birth: February 18, 1993 (age 23)

Event: Men’s High Jump Schedule in Rio: Qualifiers – August 14, final – August 16

Career highlight: Gold medal at the Youth Olympics in Singapore in 2010

Outlook for Rio: Kroyter was on the verge of retirement two years ago due to injury, but at the urging of his coach he decided to visit one more specialist in Germany and the rest is history. He won a silver medal at the European Athletics Under-23 Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, last July before booking his place in Rio with a career-best jump of 2.29m. He will likely need to improve on that to make it through the qualifiers at his first Olympics.
