Haifa-based defense electronics contractor Elbit Systems announced Monday that they have closed a $14 million deal to supply their Aviator's Night Vision Imaging System/Head-Up Displays to two undisclosed NATO member nations. The system, employed by several branches of the US military since the mid-1990s, allows pilots a "head out of the cockpit" view in addition to projecting critical flight information onto the lenses of the night vision goggles. Elbit currently equips the helmets of helicopter pilots in more than 20 countries, and the success of recent tests by Lockheed Martin show a promising future in the tactical fighter jet arena as well.
