Japan calls for response to N. Korea missile test
06/28/2007
North Korea's short-range missile tests this week violated a UN Security Council resolution and Tokyo will push for a "harsh response," Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Thursday. South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that North Korea tested a short-range missile on Wednesday. Two officials at the US Defense Department confirmed the report, but said there were three launches. "I do not think this will directly affect our security, but in any case it is a violation of the U.N. Security council resolution," Abe said. "We need to seek a harsh response from the international community."
