4 killed in new explosion at Ukrainian coal mine
12/03/2007
An explosion hit a Ukrainian coal mine where a blast two weeks ago killed 100 people, killing at least four people Sunday, officials said. The blast was the second to shake the massive Zasyadko mine in the eastern city of Donetsk since the Nov. 18 explosion, which was worst coal-mining disaster since the Soviet collapse. Emergency Situations Minister Ihor Krol said at least five people were injured in Sunday's explosion, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. Marina Nikitina, a local officer with the federal industrial safety agency, said the four dead were rescue workers. It was unclear how many people were on site at the time of the blast.
