Barak: IDF will solve issues, as it did "in the past;" MK Vilan asks PM to complete Egypt border fence.
A day after a suicide bomber detonated an explosives belt in Dimona, killing 73-year-old Lyobov Razdolskya and critically wounding her husband, Defense Minister Ehud Barak promised that the IDF would provide solutions to terrorism and return a sense of security to the south. "Today Kassam rockets were once again fired at Sderot, and yesterday there was a terror attack in Dimona," Barak told cadets at an officers course in Shizafon Base in the south. "We will provide the solutions, just as in the past your parents came up with solutions when they were fighting in the Jordan Valley." On Monday, Reuters had reported that Hamas's armed wing, Izaddin Kassam, claimed responsibility for the suicide attack, saying that the bombers came from Hebron and not the Gaza Strip. "We will now provide solutions to terror from Hebron and to Kassams from Gaza," the defense minister said. Meanwhile, Meretz MK Avshalom Vilan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in which he asked the premier to complete the erection of a security fence along the border with Egypt in order to prevent the infiltration of terrorists into the south of the country. "A day after the suicide attack in Dimona, I turn to you and ask that you complete the security fence in the south of the country with utmost speed," Vilan wrote. "The security fence in the West Bank has spared us many victims, and it is a shame that it was only erected after we sustained about 500 deaths. I therefore propose that we complete the fence in the southern region and properly seal off our border with Egypt."
