The Lessin Theater in north Tel Aviv will be demolished and a 25-storey multi-use high-rise will be built on the site, after the Tel Aviv Administrative Court rejected a petition by residents of the adjacent building against the plan. The high-rise project was approved by the Tel Aviv Regional Planning and Building Commission in May 2009. The local residents said that the project at the corner of Weizmann Street and Pinkas Street was disproportionate to the urban fabric of the area, which mainly comprises of three-floor apartment buildings. The court ruled that the planning commission's decision was reasonable and proper and that there was no reason for the court to intervene.
