It was another body- and heart-warming day at the Ga’ash Golf Club as golfers gathered on Tuesday for the annual charity tournament in aid of NATAL, the Israeli Trauma Center for victims of terror and war.
Forty golfers teed off in the morning session, with a “better- ball, stableford 75% handicap” format.
Playing under fantastic conditions thanks to ground superintendent Tal Bildman, first place in the morning round went to Shuky Zuk and Reuven Avlagon, on 44 stableford points.
In second was the pairing of Oded Meirov and Moshe Nessis, on 42 points, while Marion Feigal and Yochanan Hoffman rounded out the podium with 39 points.
The afternoon session featured a full field of 56 golfers, with father-son duo Avraham and Amiram Zantkeren taking the trophy with 45 stableford points. Baruch Lazarovitch and Graham Feldman were second, on 43 points, with Amos Aharoni and Yoram Bernstein’s 41 points earning them a thirdplace finish.
At the awards ceremony, NATAL Chairwoman Yehudit Recanati thanked Ga’ash Golf Club CEO Gili Peleg for volunteering the use of the course to host this important competition.
Recanati also thanked Titleist Israel CEO Tzvika Kliffer for giving each player a sleeve of balls and providing the prizes for the tournament.
In other news on the links, for the second year running ladies from the Viesturi Golf Club in Latvia visited Ga’ash.
The Latvians had one practice round the day prior to taking part in the regular Tuesday ladies competition.
The format of the event was “greensomes”, which means you play alternate shots until the hole is completed.
First and second place went to Ga’ash locals, with the pairings of Adrianne Biberstei-Elka Weinkamp and Lorna Arenson- Adriana Luchansky taking home the hardware.
Nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Norma Kaufman and Anita from Latvia.
Meanwhile, nearly 50 golfers participated in the Ga’ash Golf Club April Monthly Medal, held a bit late last week.
David Pachima, who has only been playing golf for 9 months and has already come down to a 14 handicap, won the “A Division” on a net 68. Also on 68, but losing on the count-out, was Ga’ash’s pro shop employee, Shmulik Almagor.
The “B” division was won by Chaim Shaininger, on net 70, followed by Norma Kaufman on net 71.
Veteran duffer Avigdor Ophir won the “C Division” with a net 74 followed by Yigal Barnea on net 77.
Nearest-to-the-Pin prizes, sponsored by the Greenfield restaurant, went to Avraham Zantkern and Yossie Roll.
Registration is also open for June’s International Pairs tournament. For more information, please contact the Ga’ash pro shop at 09-951- 5111.
