David Blatt signed as coach of Dynamo Moscow on Monday, ending speculation that he may be making a return to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Blatt, who also guides the Russian national team, will earn a reported 1.5 million euros a season on his two-year contract. The 49-year-old was one of the favorites to take charge at Maccabi following the club's trophy-less season, but Tel Aviv was never going to offer him the amount he will be paid in Russia and, being the country's national coach, it was only natural to also guide a club in Moscow. This will be Blatt's second stint in Russia after guiding Dynamo St. Petersburg to the FIBA EuroCup in 2005. Following Blatt's decision, the new favorite to coach Maccabi is Bnei Hasharon's Effi Birenboim, while Sharon Druker is also being tipped to replace Tzvika Sherf.
