Flag Football: Vringo held 21-21

Fans were on the edge of their seats Wednesday night as Big Blue, the top seed in the Real Housing women's flag football league (8-0) was matched by number two rated team Vringo (7-0). Vringo went 14-0 ahead after two early touchdowns, but Big Blue came back into the game and held on for the tie. On its first offensive drive Big Blue was held by a tight Vringo defense. Vringo then went on to score with a touchdown pass from QB Yael Freedman to Elissa Sagoskin who also scored the extra point. A continually stingy defense and then a second touchdown and extra point by Adina "Brick" Brickman quickly put Vringo in the lead at 14-0. After getting the ball back, however, Big Blue caught up with lightning speed with touchdowns by Rachel Shmidman and Sarit Bailey, and extra points by Shmidman and Geffen Stein. Vringo then scored once again with Freedman running the ball into the end zone, and then connecting with Keren Klass for the extra point. Big Blue quarterback Shana Sprung ran one in herself and threw a pass to Stein for the extra point to tie the game at 21-21. In another game last week Mishaan Plumbers beat Halachic Organ Donors Society 39-6. Ayelet Hecht scored an impressive three touchdowns, and Jessie Sagoskin, Ayelet Wartelsky and Adi Taylor scored one each, Taylor's being off an interception. Sagoskin scored two extra points, and Wartelsky scored one. On defense, interceptions were made by Hecht and Sagoskin In a very close game, Lightning was able to come away with a 13-12 win over Ziontours. Racheli Silverman, being the main force of this game, scored both touchdowns as well as the extra point. Shulamit Ben Ami had one interception on defense. Hadassah beat The Trumanettes for their first win of the season. The three Hadassah touchdowns of the game were scored by Mya Vardi, Brit Sharon and Jenna Weinberg. Clamping down on defense in the second half, Hadassah was able to hold their opponents and end the game with a final result of 18-13. Diamonds.com recorded an 18-12 win over Paige's Lakers. Meira Simon scored one touchdown, and Ilana Abell scored two, one being off an interception. One other interception was made by Penina Rapaport.
