Games We Play: Big Blue steals show, wins 66-0

On Monday night, WAFI Week 10 kicked off and Paige's Lakers started off the evening by shutting out Technolite Tigers 20-0. The contest got off to a slop start and it wasn't until there were just seconds remaining in the first half that Adi Taylor had the audience gasping in awe as she dove to catch one of the nicest touchdowns in league history. Taylor caught one more score from QB Ahuva Odenheimer, who also three a TD to receiver Adina Tabak. On defense, Odenheimer and Nili Block each picked off the ball once for nice gains. The second victory of the night was by Phone4Less, Burgers Bar, in a blow out 52-6 win over PAYGE. QB Arielle Vogelstein connected for Rachel Schulder for an impressive five TD's, as well as a pair to Meira Mars and once to Ariella Werstein. On defense, Miriam Thorne, Schulder and Judith Jamaica each had nice picks. As well, Mishaan Plumbers were barely tested, defeating the Trumanettes 43-0. Mishaan defenders Elisheva Drellich, Rachel Shmidman and Ayelet Hecht each had two interception returned for touchdowns and Zehava Katz had the lone offensive TD of the game. In the week's feature game, Big Blue, with eight wins and zero loses, faced Halachic Organ Donor Society, who had zero wins and eight loses. Symma Freefman was in for Big Blue as a replacement QB and connected for two touchdown a piece with receivers Baseball Bernstein, Gefen Stein, Elissa Sagoskin, Betty Bailey, and her own daughter Yael Freedman. On defense, Betty "the Barbarian" Baily led the charge with five interceptions and Yael Freedman also had a pair. Big Blue stole the show with an entertaining 66-0 victory. In other Week 10 games, it was Technolite Tigers shutting out the Storm, 6-0, and Ziontours triumphing over Law Office of Seth Michael Goldstein, Skid Bladnir with a 39-0 spanking. In men's flag football action last week, the group playoff stage of the Talk'n' Save AFI Moshiko Men's Contact League continued with a third week of games.
