Blues and Whites skate to 7-7 draw at Metulla's Canada Centre

The aftermath of the High Holidays was apparent during Thursday’s Israel Recreational Hockey League game as the Central Blues and Northern Whites skated to a 7-7 draw on the Olympic ice at the Canada Centre in Metulla.
New oleh Yechiel Luterman opened the scoring for the Blues with a quick shot that beat goalie Jason Swirsky up high.
But neither team could muster a sustained attack as both sides seemed to be hurting from the month-long layoff and those oh-so-good desserts over the holidays.
Northern’s Dave Berger was a standout on defense, stopping a couple of threeon- ones in the final period to protect the tie.
The ice was slow, and players had to contend with some patchy fog that has plagued Israel’s only full-size ice rink for the past few months.
Registration remains open for new players wanting to join the five-team league, which will host its fifth annual international tournament in February with teams expected from the USA, Canada and Europe. For more info on the league or tournament, write Israel–
