Games We Play: Moshiko, Jeff's Boys out

Phispo dumps Moshiko out of Moshiko Soccer League, Chabadniks stuns Jeff's Boys.

Phishpo produced a magnificent display over the weekend, dumping the mighty Moshiko out of the Moshiko Soccer League, while Chabadniks cast itself as second round giant killers, stunning the favorites, Jeff's Boys. Since Phishpo's 12-0 loss on the opening game of the season, it has transformed into a formidable force and its fairy-tale cup run continued with Lolu Hibbert, Shlomo Bakst and David Banjo scoring in the 3-0 defeat of Moshiko. Chabadniks only won once in the group stages but battled hard and earned a well-deserved 1-0 win over Jeff's Boys thanks to a Menachem Neuman wonder strike, while 'keeper David Liser pulled off two superb crucial saves. In other action, D.C. booked its place in the quarterfinals in a dramatic 2-1 victory over Carrol's Security. Moshe Lipshits put D.C. ahead only to see the impressive David Leiwy level the proceedings. With seconds remaining, however, captain Daniel Cohen unleashed the winner on an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Also, Josh Zneimer and Nissim Karasenti made sure Club Med progressed in its 2-0 win over My Office Jerusalem, while Game Zone suffered a late defeat through an extra time Aaron Goldstuck strike as SA Seniors set up a mouth-watering quarterfinal clash against fierce rivals Cafe Rimon, who cruised past Ben Maimon 6-1. Ronny Perel claimed an amazing six and top scorer Micha Rechdiener netted three in the Giblets 10-1 win over Spanish Armada, while Israel Gurt scored six and Yanki Baddiel added three in U.K.I.'s 9-1 defeat of Smoke Shop. In the quarterfinals, to be played on January 31, it will be: Cafe Rimon vs SA Seniors; D.C. vs Giblets; U.K.I vs Phishpo; and Club Med vs Chabadniks.
