Penticon defeated the Dimona Mean Judeans 14-7 in the first game of the best-of-3 finals of the ISA Men's Championships at the Baptist Village field in Petah Tikva on Friday morning.
Both teams both scored a run in the first inning, Penticon's on Howie Hirsch's inside-the-park homer.
But the dueling pitchers Ami Baran and Yarone Ben-Israel each escaped jams.
Penticon's Baran would persevere while Dimona's Yarone was let down by his defense, and it was 10-1 by the fifth inning with David Raelbrook also homering past the diving Dimona left-fielder.
Meanwhile, Penticon's defense held strong until the fifth when Dimona came back with five runs. Penticon tacked on a four-spot in the sixth to make it 14-6. Dimona ended the scoring with one run in the top of the seventh.
