Golf: Adler, Avisar, Koren triumph at Ga'ash

Nearly 90 golfers participate over the two-day tournament and another 30 take part in the trials for the Maccabi games to be held in July.

Over two beautiful Monday and Tuesday afternoons on the links, George Adler, former Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball player Muli Avisar and Tomer Koren walked away as the divisional winners of the March Monthly Medal at Ga'ash Golf. Nearly 90 golfers participated over the two-day tournament and another 30 took part in the trials for the Maccabi games to be held in July. In the "A" division, Adler, playing off a four-handicap, shot a gross 72 to give him an excellent net-68 total. Playing the front nine at level par-35, with an unbelievable nine straight pars, Adler came home with a two-over-37 on the back, with a birdie, six pars, a bogie and a double bogie. In second place was Eli Gitlin, who finished with a net-69. In the "B" Division, Avisar, who is quite familiar with big-time pressure, had the round of his life by finishing with a score of net-61 to grab the top prize. In second place in the division was Eli Chitayat with a net-66. Koren, a 13-and-a-half year old student from Ein Vered took first place in the "C" Division with a net-67, followed by Barbara Abraham on 68. Nearest to the Pin prizes sponsored by the Wine Center at Ga'ash went to Eli Chitayat, Ashley Silber, Eddy Hoffman and Cyril Kaufman. The best gross scores for the Maccabiah Games trials were as follows: Men's section: Elad Hasson - 71, Kobi Hachaham - 74; Seniors: George Adler - 72, Ron Solomon - 75; Ladies Seniors: Norma Kaufman - 84 Ga'ash Golf is also preparing for a special tournament, to be held at the end of April, in aid of "NATAL", The Israel Trauma Center for the Victims of Terror and War.
