Pride and personal accolades are all that remain up for grabs entering the final weekend of the Premier League season.
The 2013/14 season will officially come to a close on Saturday night with three matches, but with very little left to be decided.
The only possible change in the standings can be in second and third place, although that too has little significance as both the teams in second and third will qualify for the Europa League next season.
Hapoel Beersheba only requires a draw in its home match against Maccabi Haifa at Vasermil Stadium in order to wrap up the runners up position.
However, should Beersheba lose, Ironi Kiryat Shmona can leapfrog into second place at its expense should it beat Hapoel Tel Aviv in Netanya.
Hapoel Tel Aviv booked its place in the Europa League on Wednesday night after Maccabi Haifa could only manage a 2-2 draw against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the final match to be played at Kiryat Eliezer Stadium.
Haifa is only three points adrift of fourth-place Hapoel, but has no hope of overhauling the Reds due to its significantly inferior goal difference.
One thing that will be decided on Saturday is the identity of the league’s top scorer.
Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Eran Zahavi and Hapoel Tel Aviv’s Omer Damari enter the final weekend level on 26 goal.
Zahavi scored two goals while playing in a more forward role than usual in the draw against Haifa and is set to receive as much help as possible from his teammates once more in Saturday’s home encounter against Bnei Sakhnin.
Hapoel Tel Aviv midfielder Gili Vermut, who has been in charge of much of the build up play that has led to Damari’s goals, revealed on Thursday that he has been asked to leave the club as his contract is a financial burden on the cash-stricken Reds.
“In the past couple of months I have been directly approached by the heads of the club and was told that in the current financial situation it would be advisable for me to find a different club to play for,” Vermut wrote on his Facebook page, before expressing his desire to nevertheless remain at Hapoel.
