It was the extra effort put in by the Ga’ash Golf Club and its members that made the annual charity tournament in aid NATAL, the Israeli trauma center for victims of terror and war, such a great success.
The format of the event was an individual stableford divided into three divisions and played over 9 holes, with a record field of 120 golfers taking part.
In the A Division, three golfers – Itzik Ashkenazi, Avi Dekel and Ilan Cohen – all finished with 20 stableford points, with Ashkenazi taking first place on the countback, followed by Dekel and Cohen.
The B Division also had four players tie on 20 points. After the countback, first place went to Udi Ilan, second went to Alex Okon, and Hugo Wainstein snagged third.
The C Division also found a three-way knot with a trio golfers on 19 stableford points. On the countback, first went to Elisha Hillel, second to Marion Feigel, and third place went to Iris Golan.
Nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Salo Levy and Itamar Katz.
NATAL chairwomen Yehudit Recanati thanked Ga’ash CEO Gili Peleg for volunteering the use of the course to host this important competition and also thanked Titleist Israel CEO Tzika Kliffer for giving each player a sleeve of balls and providing the prizes for the tournament.
The Ga’ash golfers are now looking forward to the Mercedes competition, in which the winner of the drive contenst will receive an invitation to be a guest of Mercedes at the 2013 Open Championship in Scotland.
