Netanya notches 1st victory; Hasharon rallies for new coach

Barak Netanya finally recorded its first win of the BSL season on Sunday, beating BC Habika’a 88-80 to snap a sixgame losing streak.
Netanya stormed into a 25-5 lead and held on for a sweet victory at home.
Christian Burns had 22 points and 12 rebounds for Netanya, which also got 17 points apiece from Jerome Randle and Brian Asbury.
Rashaun Freeman scored 21 points for Habika’a.

Delroy James had 34 points for the winners, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the second.
Dwayne Mitchell scored 25 points for Ashkelon.
Maccabi Ashdod fell to its fifth straight defeat on Sunday, losing at home 76-69 to Maccabi Rishon Lezion.
Ashdod controlled the first half and led by nine points at the break (40-31). However, Rishon dominated the second half and won behind 23 points from Joe Crawford.
Derwin Kitchen scored 20 points for Rishon, while Josh Duncan had 16 points for the struggling Ashdod.
Maccabi Tel Aviv hosts Hapoel Holon on Monday.
