Pe'er reaches round of 16 at US Open

Pe'er to face world #2 Henin-Hardenne; Israel Okun elminated in round 2.

Israeli tennis star Shahar Pe'er beat 14th-seeded Italian Francesca Schiavone Friday night 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-3). Pe'er was down 5-1 in the third and final set, but showed great determination and came from behind to win a tie-breaker. Pe'er will face former world No. 1, Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne in the round of 16 of the US Open. Henin-Hardenne, currently seeded second, beat 28th-seeded Japanese Ai Sugiyama 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Noam Okun, another Israeli playing in the US Open, was knocked out in the second round on Friday night. Okun, who lost the first two sets 7-6, 6-4, came roaring back in the third to win 6-2 and continued his great form in the fourth, winning by the same score. However, Kubot bounced back in the fifth and final set, winning by a score of 6-4.
