Maccabi Tel Aviv's first day under new ownership brought some good news for coach Nir Levin.
The club's new management met for the first time on Wednesday and decided that Levin will remain the team's coach, at least for the moment.
"The management is convinced that the improvement in the team's ability will come about with the strengthening of Nir Levin's status as coach," a statement released by the management read. The new management, which includes Alex Shnaider's representative in Israel Aviv Bushinsky, businessman Mair Shamir and David Federman, who owns a large stake of Maccabi Tel Aviv's basketball team, also decided on Wednesday to appoint Ozi Shaya as the club's new CEO.
Loni Hertzikowitz, the owner of Maccabi for the last 11 years, bid farewell to the players on Wednesday at the club's training ground in Kiryat Shalom.
"I came from love and I'm leaving from love," Hertzikowitz said on his way out of Kiryat Shalom. "Maccabi was never a burden. There were some difficult times and I dealt with them. I intend to continue to attend the team's matches as a fan. I think this is an historic day."
