Softball: Super Cerveceros roll over Ra'anana

Cerveceros rolled over Re/Max-Ra'anana 16-11, Shimshon Hi Tech nipped the Dawgs 8-6 and the Galil Twisters downed Shimshon Hi Tech 18-2 in ISA action last week. Cerveceros 26, Re/Max-Ra'anana 11 Yohandry Gil-Levy led the biggest offensive outburst of the year by the Cerveceros with a perfect 6-6 night to lead his team to an easy victory. The Cuban-born teen has now hit safely in his last 10 at-bats. Carlos Hidalgo-Grass also rapped four hits for the Spanish-speaking Tel Aviv team who took advantage of sloppy Re/Max defense to give pitcher Yosi Ajzenwaser the win. Shimshon Hi Tech 8, Dawgs 6 Hi Tech jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to patient hitting, solid base running, and some Dawg miscues. Catcher/3rd Baseman Dovid Axelrod led the way with two hits and a couple of fine defensive plays. Second baseman Chananya Weissman homered and made a diving stop to stifle a late Dawgs rally. Down 6-0 the Dawgs came back with a 3-run homer from Michael Marunov but Beit Shemesh pulled away to an 8-3 lead before Jay Abramoff's three-run triple closed out the scoring. Baruch Merzel made his debut on the mound for Shimshon Hi Tech allowing just one earned run over three innings while Dawgs hurler Daniel Baram, pitching injured, was solid. Galil Twisters 18, Shimshon Hi Tech 2 Albert Serkovitch was superb in his first pitching appearance, allowing only one earned run while fanning five and walking four for the Twisters. Jake Miller's three-run triple in the 12-run Twister first was all the offense would need as the Northerners cruised to an easy victory. Yaniv Rosenfeld and Serkovitch hit back-to-back homers over the fence in the fifth for the Twisters final runs.
