Israel's Davis Cup team held its first full training session in Malmo on Monday ahead of this weekend's World Group first round tie against Sweden. However, the unprecedented security escort the players are receiving continues to be the main talking point.
The best-of-five series will be played in front of empty stands after Swedish organizers claimed they had no other option because of the expected anti-Israeli demonstrations.
"We feel like the Prime Minister with heavy security forces escorting us whenever we leave the hotel," Israel's No. 1 Dudi Sela said on Monday.
"Only Andy Ram is used to this treatment after playing in Dubai last week."
Captain Eyal Ran said he's trying to distance the players from everything that is going on off-court.
"We're being watched over very closely and are in a bobble of sorts," Ran said. "I'm trying to distance the players from this strange situation.
"We had a good training session and the guys are starting to feel the healthy tension of an important competition."
