Amidst his publicized temporary breakup with Yoni Erlich, Andy Ram and current partner Max Mirnyi were knocked around in the second round of the Madrid Open on Wednesday afternoon. The Israeli/Belarusian duo squandered four match points in a 5-7, 6-2, 14-12 loss to Tommy Robredo and Marcel Granollers and will now turn their attention to the French Open, which begins on May 24. In other action in Madrid on Wednesday, top-seeded Rafael Nadal cruised into the third round in the singles draw with a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over Jurgen Melzer in a match in which the clay-court wizard and world No. 1 player made just three unforced errors.
