Windsurfing: Zubari grabs gold

Shahar Zubari claimed the prestigious World Cup windsurfing competition at the Semaine Olympique Francaise in Hyeres, France on Friday, clinching the gold medal by a single point after finishing seventh in the medal race to edge Frenchman Julien Bontemps. The 22-year-old, who won a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics, had a 13-point cushion ahead of Friday's final race, and knew a finish in the top seven would guarantee him first position. Zubari's next main target will be June's European Championships in Tel Aviv. Ma'ayan Davidovich ended the women's windsurfing competition in eighth place after finishing Friday's medal race in 10th position. Gil Cohen and Dana Mamriev finished the women's 470 contest in a surprise 10th place, with Udi Gal and Gidi Kliger ending the men's competition in a disappointing 17th position.
