All entrances to Jerusalem were closed on Thursday night and will remain closed until at least Friday morning due to the heavy snow falling on the capital, Israel Radio reported.
Some areas of the capital are experiencing power cuts due to the snow. Israel Electric Corporation workers were having difficulties reaching some areas to restore power due to closed roads inside the city.
As a result of the winter storm, the Jerusalem municipality decided not to hold classes on Friday and all schools and preschools will be closed. School will also be closed on Saturday in the Arab school system in east Jerusalem.
The municipality and the police called on drivers not to use their private vehicles in the city in order to keep main roads in the city open.
