By the middle of December, only 16.1 percent of the whole population were vaccinated against influenza, the Health Ministry reported on Monday.

Complications of the flu lead to significant illness and deaths.

The shot, recommended for all ages from six months, is provided free by one’s health fund and by geriatric institutions for their residents and medical institutions for their personnel.

In addition, 65% of people aged 65 and over have gone for flu shots, even though they began to be offered in early October. More than half of the cold season is over, and the elderly face the highest risk of complications.
