Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's proposal to clear and revive hundreds of plots of land in the Golan Heights for agricultural development was approved on Sunday.
The idea was proposed by Netanyahu and Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir.
The initiative, which shall be implemented within the next five years, aims to enable a great leap in the Golan's economical and agricultral potential. According to the plan, 375 million NIS will be invested in preparing the land for agriculture, upgrading the water systems and clearing minefields which have remained untouched for many years.
Since the residents of the Golan are largely dependent on farming and agriculture, populating these 3,000 hectares will greatly increase the income and employment options in the area.
