Hundreds of Israeli and foreign emergency responders gathered in Israel this week for IPRED, the third international conference on healthcare system preparedness and response to emergencies and
disasters.

The conference was headed by the Commander of the Medical Department in the IDF Home Front Command, Col. Dr. Avi Abargil, and the Health Ministry.

Over 700 participants from Israel and more than 200 guests from 40 countries took part in the event. They were addressed by Home Front Commander Maj.-Gen. Eyal Izenberg.  The conference ended this week with a simulation of a mega mass casualty incident in which a plane crashed into a building near Ben Gurion International Airport.

A second drill was held at Tel Hashomer Medical Center.
