Haredi victim was moderately wounded and evacuated to hospital; assailant flees following attack, police combing area.

A man, who appeared to be Arab, sprung upon a group of ultra-Orthodox men Sunday and stabbed one walking on Jabotinsky Street in Petah Tikva next the Geha interchange, police said.

The assailant then fled the scene on foot. Police were trying to determine whether the attack was motivated by nationalism.

The victim was moderately wounded and evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. Police were combing the area for the suspect.

Police detained eight Palestinians in the area and they were investigating whether they were connected to the attack, Israel Radio reported.

Police said that the witnesses informed that the stabber did not exchange any words with them during the attack.
