Physicians barred from writing sick notes for themselves
By JUDY SIEGEL-ITZKOVICH
07/04/2014

From now on, physicians will not be able to write sick notes for themselves, Health Ministry director-general Prof. Ronni Gamzu said yesterday in a directive sent to all medical institutions.

This is also the view of the Israel Medical Association, of which nearly all physicians are members, so as not to show a conflict of interest. Gamzu said that by writing their own notes, which allow them to take sick leave, they are examining, diagnosing their medical condition and approving sick leave for themselves.
