Gal Gadot. Need I say more?
The Rosh Ha’ayin native has quickly become one of the most recognizable and admired faces in the world. After the smash success of the standalone Wonder Woman movie last year, Gadot is wrapping up filming the sequel to the superhero film, and lining up a slew of other projects, including starring in a comedy thriller with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, producing a film about Fidel Castro, voicing a role in a new Disney movie and portraying Hedy Lamarr in a Showtime limited series.
Outside of her film roles, Gadot has entered the realm of pop culture in a big way, becoming a talk show and red carpet mainstay.
Earlier this year, the Israeli actress even had an entire category dedicated to her on the popular game show Jeopardy, starred in a music video for the latest Maroon 5 hit song and made the Time magazine list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She also serves as a global ambassador for both Reebok and Revlon, appearing in ad campaigns for the brands around the world. In fact, in the year 2017, Gadot was the No. 6 most searched person in the world on Google, and the No. 3 most searched actor.
Gadot is exceptionally careful about her public statements and her social media feeds, but that doesn’t mean she’s unwilling to take a stance. In the past few months she has spoken out against sexual harassment in Hollywood, against US policies of child separation for migrants, in favor of gun control and in support of equal pay for women.
And Gadot doesn’t shy away from talking about her Jewish and Israeli background. On Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, she wrote a moving post about her survivor grandfather. And earlier this year, she urged her 20 million Instagram followers to vote for Israel’s Netta Barzilai in the Eurovision song contest. “Vote for Netta!!” she wrote on the night of the final, later following it up with a video of Barzilai’s acceptance speech, writing “Yay!!!!!! I’m so happy for Netta!! Congratulations on winning [E]urovision 2018! You represent the real wonder in women. So much [t]ruth, confidence and talent. You stand for diversity and you bring fresh beautiful light to the world.”
From one wonder woman to another.
