US President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to slam right-wing media pundit and former supporter Ann Coulter, calling her “a wacky nut job” for thinking he is giving up on his promise to build a security wall between the US and Mexico.

“Despite all odds and an entire Democrat Party of Far Left Radicals against me,” Trump said, “I am winning on the border.”

Writing about the President she once supported, Coulter wrote on Twitter “Trump is the American [German leader Angela] Merkel.”

“But who cares about Germany?” She wrote, “Trump just destroyed the U.S.A.”

Following the longest Federal government shutdown in American history, Trump consented to the new Federal budget without the funds he sought to build the border wall, only to declare a national state of emergency for that purpose in a move that is currently being debated in court.
