By popular demand, the Israel Opera is presenting four performances of Yosef Bardanashvili's Journey to the End of the Millennium, based on the novel by A.B. Yehoshua. The action centers around Ben Attar (tenor Gaby Sadeh), a wealthy Tangiers merchant who, with his two wives, journeys to Paris and Worms to reconcile with his estranged cousin - a journey that also coincides with a decree that outlaws polygamy among Jews. The results for Ben Attar and his family are unexpected, even tragic. The director is Omri Nitza, the designers are Ruth Dar and Felice Ross, and the conductor is the Israel Opera's brand new music director, David Stern. Performances are December 3, 5, 6 and 8 at the Tel Aviv Opera House.
