Playwright and director Yael Ronen has been nominated for the 2010 Europe Prize for Theater. The nomination, sent to the Habimah National Theater last week, stated: "the nominee is cited in the category of a new theatrical language that fits [the aims of] the Europe Prize established in 1987." Ronen's work's include Nutcase (Habimah), Plonter (Beit Lessin), Bat Yam - Tykocin with the Wroclaw Theater, Poland, and most recently the controversial yet much praised Third Generation, an Israeli/German/Palestinian collaboration with Berlin's Schaubühne Theater. Past winners of this very prestigious award include late playwright Harold Pinter and Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski, whose production of H. Levin's Krum played here last month.
