1. FILM : ’HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS’ The first installment of the two-film adaptation of The Deathly Hallows follows Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) as they search for the pieces of Voldemort’s (Ralph Fiennes) soul that he extracted from his being and hid in obscure locations far and wide. Despite the long friendship of the three, a combination of dark forces, romantic tensions, and long-held secrets threaten to sabotage the mission.At selected cinemas throughout the country.
2. SPORTS: UP TO SPEED? Cycle Jerusalem is participating in Critical Mass, a community bike ride to raise awareness about cycling safety in Jerusalem. This month’s ride will be in memory of Shneor Cheshin, who was killed while cycling. The ride is at an easy pace and is suitable for all ages. 3. MUSIC: CROONING WITH KENT New Jersey-born UK-based jazz vocalist Stacey Kent has been producing quality albums with alarming frequency since her debut release Close Your Eyes in 1997. Her loyal fans include celebrities such as Clint Eastwood (who invited her to sing at his 70th birthday party), as well as Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, who in a recent interview listed Kent among his favorite singers. 4. MUSIC: REVVED UP Acclaimed American indie band Mercury Rev is returning to Israel this week for a special show. The band, consisting of Jonathan Donahue, Grasshopper, Jeff Marcel and Carlos Anthony Molina, will perform an acoustic set featuring songs from their eight albums. After a break, they’ll return for Mercury Rev’s Clear Light Ensemble, an instrumental set against the backdrop of avant-garde and experimental films from the Anthology Film Archives.Tomorrow, 10 p.m., Reading 3, Tel Aviv, www.icp-concerts.com
5. DANCE: LOCAL MOVES The PROJECT is a new venture of the Israeli Opera and the Suzanne Dellal Center, which aims at presenting international contemporary repertory dance on a regular basis in Israel. A dozen Israeli dancers were chosen to participate in The PROJECT after extensive auditions. They will perform three works by leading European choreographers, including Jacopo Godani and Emanuel Gat.

6. MIXED BAG: MOVING TIME
 The Israeli Center for Digital Art in Holon presents its fifth video biennial entitled “Videozone.” Taking place all over the country, the biennial features more than 30 programs of video and experimental film, as well as lectures and meetings with artists and curators from here and abroad. Also included are three screenings that combine works of international artists with Israeli artists and talks with some of the international artists, such as Deimantas Narkevicius, Marcel Odenbach, Constanze Rhum, Francesco Jodice and Irit Batsry.

7. FESTIVAL: THE REEL DEAL
The DocAviv Festival in Tel Aviv specializes in the best in world documentary cinema, and now another version of that festival will be opening: DocAviv Galil will run from Monday to next Thursday at Ma’alot-Tarshiha, 20 kilometers east of Nahariya. The theme of the festival is the promotion and development of cinema on the periphery of the country. It will feature 30 films and will open with the documentary Teacher Irena (pictured), directed by Itamar Chen. There will also be a number of workshops and musical performances, including concerts by David Broza and The Giraffes.

8. THEATER: YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
Fat Pig is one of a trilogy of plays dealing with body image. Four 30-ish professionals confront society’s messages and their own insecurities about fat and body size. Tom, a young, successful athletic executive begins dating Helen, a clever, witty, interesting plus-size librarian. Tom suffers fallout from the office, particularly from his friend Carter and ex-girlfriend Jeannie. In English. NIS 80.

9. UPCOMING FESTIVAL: ON THE TOP RUNG
On the shores of the Kinneret the air will once again be filled with music: It’s time for the sixth annual Jacob’s Ladder winter weekend. This indoor festival will feature 24 hours of musical entertainment, storytelling sessions, singing, dancing, an open stage, tai chi, a variety of workshops and a crafts fair. Special foreign attractions this year include New York singer/comedienne Christine Lavin (pictured).

10. UPCOMING MIXED BAG: HAMSHUSH
Jerusalem is gearing up for the sixth annual Hamshushalayim festival, a series of cultural events over the next three weekends. On offer will be unique events in cultural institutions, the Old City and tourist sites that will be open free of charge, as well as weekend tours, colorful markets and more. Restaurants, coffee houses and pubs will also be offering discounts until the late hours.
