Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir, an animated documentary about the director's experiences in the first Lebanon War, has just won two important prizes. It won the Grand Prize at the Tokyo FILMeX Competition, where the jury called it "a film which provokes a very strong impact on the audience while inventing a new cinematographic language. The jury was particularly impressed with the intelligence with which dreamlike visions interact with historical facts and the use of the music as part of the narration." The film also won the award for Best Foreign Independent Film at the British Independent Film Awards. The movie is nominated for four European Film Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The winners of these awards will be announced on December 6 in a ceremony in Copenhagen.
