Amid a year of shows by – let’s be kind – veteran performers, music fans will get to witness a young band that is red hot right now, when British stylish punks Art Brut invade Tel Aviv’s Barby club on April 2. Compared favorably to fellow arty rockers Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party, the five-piece band is led by gregarious front man Eddie Argos, whose half-spoken, half shouted lyrics are full of humor and satire. The first song the band wrote upon forming in 2003 was “Formed A Band” including the lyrics “I wanna be the boy/The man that writes the song/That makes Israel and Palestine/Get along.” Next month, three electrifying albums later, including last year’s acclaimed Art Brut vs. Satan, Art Brut will get its chance.
