The country's most promising young pianists will have an opportunity to showcase their talent this week.

A selection of the country's most promising young pianists will have an opportunity to showcase their talent this week at the prestigious Voice of Music Young Artists' Competition. This year's three-tiered tournament, in memory of renowned Israeli pianist Bracha Eden, will feature 20 artists, all aged 18-30. Participants will be graded by a panel of musicians led by Avi Hannani, director of the Kol Israel and Voice of Music radio stations. The contest begins Monday at the Ein Kerem Music Center, with stage two taking place at the same location on Tuesday. On October 12, the six finalists will perform a concerto of their choice with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. The event concludes that evening with a grand finale concert and ceremony, during which the six will receive an array of prizes ranging from financial support to invitations to perform with Israeli orchestras and abroad. Now nearing its 70th year, the Young Artists' Competition has discovered and supported more than 100 young performers, such as pianist Dorel Golan (pictured). In addition to the contest, the YAC organizes a variety of concerts, symposiums and master classes aimed at providing a platform for up-and-coming musicians. Stages one and two run from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Ein Kerem Music Center (Targ Center). Stage three takes place at the Henry Crown Auditorium of the Jerusalem Theater from 10 a.m. The final concert takes place at the same location at 8 p.m. Entrance to each stage is free.
