Tel Aviv sounds 'Angelic Voices'

Like other religions, Jews, too, have spirituals: the haunting Sephardic cantos sung in Hebrew and Ladino that enlivened worship and sustained the Jews in exile. These Andalusian songs join up with opera highlights and cantorial favorites in Angelic Voices, a special concert at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center on November 13. David Krivoshei conducts the Israel Symphony Orchestra - Rishon Lezion in a program ranging from La Traviata to "Adon Olam." Performers include cantors Israel Rand, Adi Arad, Andalusian singer Lior Elmaliah and opera stars Mirela Gradinaru and Yotam Cohen.
