1,800 haredim receive conscription deferrals in third round of cancellations

As expected, the Ministry of Defense once again cancelled a conscription date for 1,800 haredi men who have been given a date for conscription to the army.
This is the third time the ministry has deferred, and de facto cancelled, a conscription date for haredi men. In July this year, 608 men had their conscription date postponed and 633 were deferred in November.
The men in question received conscription orders following the expiration of the Tal Law in August 2012, but the ministry, with the consent of the High Court of Justice, has cancelled their conscription dates because of the legislation currently being drawn up in Knesset.
