Two people were killed and five others were injured in a car accident between a truck and minibus on Route 4 in Ramat Gan on Sunday.
Two of the injured are in serious condition. The other three injured are lightly to moderately injured. The Aluf Sadeh interchange on Route 4 is closed in the westerly direction. Drivers are asked to take alternate routes.
The passengers of the minibus were Palestinians who were on their way to work at a building site in central Israel, according to Channel 12. Those killed in the accident were from the Nablus area.
"We felt a strong boom, from the front and the back, all the content of our truck were scattered within the vehicle," said the driver of the truck to Channel 12. "When we got out of the truck, we realized the dimensions of this severe accident."
"When we arrived at the scene with a large number of forces, we saw the commercial vehicle that was trapped under the back part of the truck," said Magen David Adom paramedic Simcha Simandoiv. "Three injured people who were conscious were laying next to the vehicle and five injured people were trapped within the vehicle. We immediately carried out medical checks on the injured and transferred them in moderate and light condition to hospitals. In parallel to the complex rescue operations of firefighters, we opened an advanced treatment station at the site where we brought the trapped people."
"Two of those trapped were unconscious and suffering from extremely serious injuries throughout their bodies and after checks we had no choice but to pronounce them dead in the field and three additional injured people who were in serious and moderate condition were transferred in our intensive care vehicles to Sheba Hospital nearby while continuing lifesaving medical care," said Simandoiv.
