An MDA spokesperson said Thursday that two women traveling down route 66 near the Megiddo junction were fatally injured in a car accident.

MDA paramedics arrived at the scene and attempted to administer life saving first aid treatment to the victims but were declared dead shortly thereafter.

An investigation into the cause of the accident has been opened.
