52 Palestinians arrested in east Jerusalem raids for myriad violent crimes

Border Police units arrested 52 Palestinians overnight Tuesday and Wednesday in the east Jerusalem neighborhoods of Silwan and Ras al-Amud for a range of violent offenses carried out in the capital over the past several weeks.
The arrests follow an intensive investigation by police, said Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld on Thursday.
“Police operations were carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday in order to arrest suspects involved in terrorism, rioting on the Temple Mount, planning attacks, throwing rocks and petrol bombs at Jewish vehicles, and other criminal-related incidents,” said Rosenfeld.
He added that similar police operations and investigations are ongoing throughout the capital, with an emphasis on violent east Jerusalem neighborhoods. All 52 suspects have been arraigned at Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, he said.
