The Justice Ministry announced Friday that the investigation ordered by Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein deals with suspicions raised by the state comptroller's examinations and was not related to the "Harpaz document."
On Thursday police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) were ordered by Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to launch a fresh investigation into the Harpaz document affair.
Lt.-Col. (res.) Boaz Harpaz, a former intelligence army officer, is suspected of forging a document containing plans to damage reputations of senior IDF officers in a bid to promote OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant's candidacy to become IDF chief of general staff. The forged document was falsely printed on paper bearing the logo of the Arad Communications public relations firm.
