ADL report: Anti-Semitism on the rise in Venezuela

June 16, 2010 20:33

Hate-filled statements by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and other Venezuelan government leaders are contributing to widespread anti-Israel and anti-Semitic climate in Venezuela, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported in a press-statement released Wednesday.

According to the ADL, recent statements from Chavez and others in the government fit into a pattern of extreme anti-Israel rhetoric from Venezuela’s current leaders. In the aftermath of the Gaza flotilla affair, Chavez cursed Israel as a “terrorist state” and an enemy of the Venezuelan revolution and claimed that the Mossad was trying to assassinate him.
