Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday night urged UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to help garner 'international protection for the Palestinian people' amid escalations with Israel, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. In a phone call with Abbas, Ban vowed that he would also speak with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in light of the heightened tensions, spurred by a spate of violence and terrorist attacks.
