Aharonovitch slams court for decision to release Mor from jail in 3 months

Aharonovitch slams court

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch on Monday slammed the judicial system for what he considered to be a lenient punishment handed out to Nahariyah criminal Michael Mor, who is expected to be released from prison in three months. "I am saddened and disappointed by the court's decision; there is no doubt that it doesn't serve a tailwind for the battle with crime," the minister said. Earlier on Monday, the Nazareth District Court sentenced Mor to 11 months in jail for threatening judges and police officers. However, Mor is set to be released in three months, since he has been in jail since February last year. "One must keep in mind that this is an extremely severe case of one of the heads of a crime organization, who threatened judges and policemen in Israel," Aharonovitch continued. "The remainder of the time left [for Mor] to serve, a mere few months, is a distressing message."
