CAIRO - Al-Qaida's second in command Ayman al-Zawahri said that the United States faces a Muslim rebellion following the death of Osama bin Laden, according to a video recording posted on Youtube and monitored on Wednesday.

Egyptian-born Zawahri devoted much of a 28-minute recording to commemorating bin Laden, who was killed in a raid by US special forces on his home in Pakistan in May after a nearly 10-year worldwide hunt.

"Today, and thanks be to God, [the United States of] America is not facing an individual or a group ... but a rebelling nation which has awaken from its sleep in a Jihadist renaissance challenging it wherever it was," Zawahri said in the recording.
