Algeria: 2 killed in riots over rising food prices

ALGIERS, Algeria — Algeria's Interior minister said two demonstrators have died in protests over rising food prices that have swept Algerian cities.
The minister, Dahou Ould Kablia, said at least 300 police officers have been injured since Wednesday when the unrest started along with 100 demonstrators.
One protester died Friday in rioting near M'Sila, a city 215 miles (350 kilometers) southeast of Algiers, the capital, and the other died in Bousmail, a western suburb of Algiers. The ministry did not provide further details.
The Arab-language newspaper El Khabar reported Saturday that an 18-year-old was shot to death when police fired to disperse rioters near M'Sila.
